HW #2.4: Peer Review -- FIRST POST DUE MAR. 1 // RESPONSE DUE MAR. 8
STEP 1: Create a discussion. Use the title of your essay as the title of your discussion. In the message box, ask your peer reviewers to look at a particular aspect of your draft. For example, you might ask if they think you've provided enough background on your topic. -- 5 pts.
STEP 2: Return to the full forum to find a post by a student who is analyzing articles from the same text, if one is posted. If not, read a post that analyzes articles from a different text set. What's most important is that you look for a post that has had no responses or only one response. You may need to scroll all the way down to the list of postings to find one.
STEP 3: Make a copy of the peer review worksheet linked here. Label that new file something like Smith Review of Jones. Fill it in for the draft that you read. Make sure that your comments are specific. Copy and paste sentences from the draft into your comments. Number the paragraphs of the draft so you can refer to specific paragraphs. Upload your completed peer review worksheet to the discussion reply of the student whose draft you reviewed. -- 10 pts.
STEP 4: Repeat steps 2 and 3, preferably a post by a student who read a different essay. What's most important thing is that you look for a post that has had no responses or only one response. -- 10 pts.
STEP 5: Read feedback from both peer reviewers. Reference several helpful comments made by the peer reviewer and explain how they will help you revise your essay. -- 5 pts.
NOTE: Make sure all essays get a review. If you are the third read on a draft while there are unread drafts in the "queue," you will lose points. Scroll down the list to find drafts that have had only one review or no reviews. Is you are reading a third draft for extra credit, be sure to label it EX. CR.
