I feel feedback in a timely manner should be indicated in the syllabus or course expectations. This allows the student to have clear expectations on when they will receive feedback. Students may begin to worry/wonder if they feel too much time has passed since they submitted an assignment and have not received a response. It is best to establish expectations from the beginning. I do not believe there is "too much feedback" as long as it is done in a productive and constructive manner. To me, a numerical score in a grade back is simply letting the student know how they did following instructions on a given assignment. Feedback should provide details on how and why they received the grade(s) they did and what they can do to improve moving forward in the course as well as their collegiate career.
