I facilitate a course overview and classmate introductions in a face-to-face environment by introducing myself, have the students introduce themselves, present the syllabus, and have a discussion. I have been a professor for nearly 10 years and have not experienced challenges trying to facilitate these things in an online environment apart from simply waiting for all the students to log on at the assigned time. I have been teaching online for the last three years and have been successfully facilitating classmate introductions/offering a course overview in an online environment.
