Discord is a web, desktop, or mobile application where users can join one or many "servers".
Each server is a community revolving around a topic that is set by the server owner. As an instructor I would leverage Discord to create a community for the class to engage in and interact with not only myself but also the other students. It has robust support for both text and media posting as well as voice channels (which also support video) that students and the instructor can join for study groups or office hours or perhaps even just hanging out. I use it all the time in my personal life and I consider it one of the best free communication software products available.
